We just got a very early version of THE CRAFT (Film) script! It’s pretty different, and we may incorporate some of it into the book for The Craft: The Musical.

Three musicals I’m currently writing:

THE CRAFT: The Musical - This one is the farthest along.  It’s a musical adaptation of the 1996 cult film of the same name.  Working on getting an NYC reading up and going in October.

DROP DEAD GORGEOUS: The Musical - I have a few songs written for this one, but it still needs a ton of work.  It’s based on the hilarious 1999 cult film about a small-town beauty pageant where contestants start mysteriously dying.

SAMHAIN: Tales of All Hallow’s Eve- I’m really excited about this one, but I’ve done very little work on it.  It’s going to be a collection of Halloween origin stories/characters tied together (think Into the Woods but with Halloween/urban legends rather than straight out fairy tales).

A demo of Chris’s song for the show.  This is the scene where he first meets Sarah at school.

Halloween Fact: Why do kids say “Trick or Treat” on Halloween? According to tradition, if adults refuse to give out treats, then children have permission to play a trick on them (mischief, vandalism, etc). Better stick with the treats!

Halloween Fact: Ever wonder why the official Halloween colors are orange and black? Orange symbolizes the color of crops and turning leaves while black represents death.

Halloween Fact: Witches could actually fly (sort of)!  English folklore tells that during night-time ceremonies, witches rubbed a “flying” potion on their bodies, closed their eyes and felt as though they were flying. The hallucinogenic ointment, which caused numbness, rapid heartbeat and confusion, gave them the illusion that they were soaring through the sky.

Halloween Fact: Ever wonder why we light Jack-o’-Lanterns?
According to legend, there once lived a drunken man named ‘Stingy Jack’ who tricked the devil in order to prevent going to Hell. However, God refused to allow Jack into Heaven as well. The Devil found Jack’s situation amusing and sent him back to Earth with only a piece of burning coal in hand. Jack placed the coal inside a carved-out turnip and has been roaming the Earth with it ever since. His spirit became known as “Jack of the Lantern,” and then, simply “Jack O’Lantern.” The jack-o’-lanterns we make today are supposed to protect homes by warding off evil spirits (like Stingy Jack).

Halloween Fact: The word “witch” is derived from the Old English word “wicca”. It was often used to describe teachers, fortune tellers, and generally wise people.
